Notice for Team Awesome [Jul. 7th, 2006|10:15 am]
The Awesomes

I, Awesome, will be out of town all next week from Monday to Friday. Try to ride during the week without me....somehow.

I doubt I will make the Morris Bridge workday as a result, but I will be there for whatever ride is Sunday.

Be strong, team. Be strong. I would have wanted it that way.

CAMPING at the end of the month! [Jul. 5th, 2006|10:48 am]
The Awesomes

Hello Awesomes!

Since Sunday, July 30th is a Santos ride, I have reserved a camping spot at the Sanots campground. It's kind of a long drive, so I figure sleeping over is the best thing...for me anyway. And I have been ITCHING to go camping lately. They do have showers available as well, so we won't be too disgusting.

I have reserved the spot for Saturday July 29th all the way to July 31st, since they have a 2 night minimum on the weekend...but I plan on leaving after the ride on the 30th. It's only 20 bucks for the site for the 2 days.

This site can have up to 2 tents, 5 people. I will be bringing a tent...I have not procured one yet, but I will before then. If anyone else wants to camp too, please let me know here. We'll make a night of it! Come on out!

Team Awesome Ride tonight!! [Jul. 5th, 2006|08:25 am]
The Awesomes

Awesome, Awesome, and I are going out to Morris Bridge tonight...we'll be there around 6:30PM. Awesome, I hope you can make it out!

Chicken Chicken is ready to ride--she does in fact, climb like a goat. It's so awesome.

In other news, your Team Captain (moi), finally got Awesome out to ride! So now we have an O-ficial Team Mechanic! You can't be an Awesome Team Mechanic unless you ride, and now he is! Woo hoo! He did pretty well, and I got a smug satisfaction of wiping the Croom trail with his ass.

Awesome and Awesome went to Croom yesterday too. They hated it, but will be back every Saturday until they beat it. I will be joining them, as I loves Croom.

This Sunday, the Swamps are at Alafia. Who's in???

Please RSVP here for tonight's ride, so we'll know to wait for you/look for you.

Last night: Wilderness - AWESOME! [Jun. 27th, 2006|12:38 pm]
The Awesomes

Went riding last night on the Wilderness trails - I left my map at home, so I really was taking my life (and my poor sense of direction) into my own hands. Rode the entry part hard and fast (Eve would have been so proud). Hyperventilated at the map sign area until I could breath almost normal again - then took off down the main trail until I hit Grandpa. Felt like Grandma by the end of it - then took off down Piglet, and hit the scary down hill backwards part at the end backwards and forwards three times - okay I did the sissy side part. Next went up Techno Pig - um, that sucked - all uphill bumpy bumps - I think next time I'm doing it the right way. Finished up riding back in and hyperventilating at the end - complete tomato face.

The ride was AWESOME.

Team Awesome meeting/workshop idea [Jun. 20th, 2006|02:58 pm]
The Awesomes

Okay, I have seen Daryl change an innertube for me, but I haven't actually changed one myself. Perhaps after a ride we should have a little workshop/how-to thing on how to do that.

If you want to be prepared for issues on the trails, we should all carry the following, and know how to use it:
* Multi-tool
* Levers
* Extra tube
* Patch Kit
* Pump
* Food (i.e. Clif bars)
* Sufficient water/beverage

If we do the Sunday rides with the Swamps, be prepared to be out there for 3+ hours! They work us hard!

I will practice changing a tube at home. When everyone has the tools, we can do a little workshop, powwow-type thing. I think it should include BBQ & beer.

This week's rides... [Jun. 20th, 2006|02:24 pm]
The Awesomes

I am going to try to go to the Bridge every day from tomorrow to possibly Saturday...unless anyone wants to go elsewhere Saturday morning...? On Sunday the Swamp Club is going to Croom #1 at 9 AM, which I will be doing....who's in? I haven't decided on what group to ride in. Maybe a fast C to a low B.

This Wednesday-Friday I can't tell you the exact time I will be at the bridge, as I am working at different locations for the rest of the week. If you are interested, leave a comment and I will call you when I have a better time frame. I won't have Internet access tomorrow during the day until I ride, so please try to give me a heads up today and I will meet you there.

Awesome....did you get your rack on your car yet? If nothing else, take off that rear wheel and bring it over so we can put on your pedals and cables!

Oprah said it herself.. [Jun. 20th, 2006|02:18 pm]
The Awesomes

The most important part about working out is that you've gotta look cute. Okay, maybe she didn't say it in those words, but damn close.

Terry's got NEW SALES!!!! Woo hoo! Pedal pushers (like baggy capris) are on sale for $65, usually $90--all sizes! Knickers (like tight capris) are on sale for $40, all sizes. Hell, just look at them all.

If you prefer skorts, the Mad Plaid pro-racer is on sale for $35, all sizes. And thier newer skorts are on sale too....as are the longer ones...again, all sizes.

I see a black pro-racer in my future....if I can find my $10 off coupon tonight, it's mine. Woo hoo!
